ERC Synergy Grants fund groups of two to four principal investigators combining distinct skills and resources to address ambitious research problems that a single investigator could not solve alone. Proposals may be in any field and are evaluated for scientific excellence and intrinsic synergy. Host institutions are generally in EU Member States or associated countries, although one principal investigator may be hosted outside that area under the program rules. Grants can reach €10 million for six years, with limited additional justified funding. The 2027 call is scheduled from February 17 to May 11, 2027, subject to adoption of the 2027 work programme.
