ERC Consolidator Grants support principal investigators strengthening a recently created independent research team or establishing one in Europe. Applicants may be of any nationality and normally have seven to twelve years of experience since their PhD defence, a promising scientific track record, and an excellent proposal in any field. Research must be hosted by an institution in an EU Member State or associated country. Grants can reach €2 million over five years, with additional justified funding in specified circumstances. The 2027 call is scheduled from September 24, 2026 to January 12, 2027, subject to adoption of the 2027 work programme.
