Past editions and people: 7amleh Fellowship Program - Call for Fellows As various regulatory frameworks emerge, the absence of global enforcement and the growing convergence of military and corporate digital infrastructures demand action. To this end, 7amleh is launching a new Fellowship Program that aims to support groundbreaking research and advocacy at the intersection of AI, digital repression, and Palestine. About the Fellowship Program: The 7amleh Fellowship Program is a six-month initiative that brings together 4 to 6 researchers working on the frontlines of digital rights, AI ethics, journalism, and conflict studies. This is a part-time, non-resident fellowship, with an expected commitment of approximately 12-15 hours per week over six months. This program is rooted in 7amleh’s mission to advance digital rights and freedom of expression in Palestine and across the region, amplifying knowledge production that is locally grounded and globally relevant. Fellows will receive access to 7amleh’s research infrastructure, academic mentorship, and a collaborative space to produce new knowledge that supports advocacy, accountability, and decolonial digital justice. They will work independently while maintaining regular contact with a dedicated fellowship coordinator, who will provide administrative and technical support, facilitate smooth communication, and ensure the program runs in an organized and efficient manner. Fellows will receive monetary compensation to support their research and engagement during the program. The exact stipend amount will be communicated to selected fellows in their offer letters. Over the course of the fellowship, participants will progress from initial research design to a first draft submission by early December, followed by an editing and peer review process, and culminating in final publication by March 2026. The fellowship is designed to strengthen Palestine-focused and Palestine-relevent research, ensuring that critical knowledge is generated by voices deeply engaged with the context. This program aims to support high-quality, critical research on AI, surveillance, and digital repression as practiced in and exported from the context of Palestine. Research outputs are expected to follow rigorous academic methodologies while being written in a clear and accessible style, suitable for both academic audiences and the general public, ensuring that findings can inform policy debates, advocacy work, and broader public understanding.
